Lithromantic / Akoiromantic Pride Flag (2014)

Identity Pride Flag · 2014

A pride flag for the lithromantic / akoiromantic identity, the experience of feeling romantic attraction without wanting it reciprocated, or of losing romantic feelings if they are reciprocated. The flag and the term both date to mid-2014 and both are contested. The lith prefix, drawn from the Greek lithos ('stone') in reference to the stone butch tradition, was challenged on appropriation grounds shortly after it appeared, and Tumblr user CisphobeOfficial proposed the alternate akoine / akoi prefix (from the Greek koine, 'common, shared') on May 18, 2014. Both terms remain in use. The dominant flag is most often credited in secondary sources to Tumblr user TheGenderfluidLifeChoseMe; an earlier red and yellow lith flag is separately credited to Tumblr user TheJasmineElf on or before April 17, 2014. Whether these are competing versions of the same artifact or two distinct flags is unsettled in the located sources.

Designed by Disputed (TheGenderfluidLifeChoseMe and TheJasmineElf each credited with different versions)
